Fairies at Play

This is a one of a kind piece simply because of the rarity of the eggshell used.  Emu eggs are normally three layers of color, white on the inside, then a teal, then a very dark, almost black shade of green.  The eggshell used in this artwork did not get the final dark coat of color.

The artist says "This egg  was done with a beautiful light teal colored emu egg, left it's natural color. I call it "Fairies at Play". Hinged double doors are partially open in this picture and reveal a fairy inside. The base is a textured woodland stump with fairies and butterflies flitting all around.   It is part of my private collection and not for sale."
