Cheruka to offer Emu Egg Carving Classes in Nashville

Egg Artist Ron Cheruka has agreed to offer emu egg carving classes at the American Emu Symposium in Nashville on July 17 and 18.  The classes are 'open enrollment, you do not have to be a member of the AEA in order to participate.

The classes will be held on Thursday and Friday at the Holiday Inn Select Opryland/Airport prior to and during the AEA Symposium.

Each 4 hour class will deal with emu eggs only and be limited to 10 students per class.  The price is $50.00.  Early registration is encouraged and the cut off date for registration is May 28.

The class will stress developing your own style of carving and is designed to encourage self-confidence in using the equipment.  Over the four hour class the students will share 4 hand pieces which will allow their hands a break while they watch others work.  They will be working with all three layers of color inherent in the emu eggshell.

The drills use a misting system and students are asked to bring a couple of towels to protect their clothes.  Masks, burrs and other equipment will be provided.

For more information on registering, email Myra Charleston
